Read on!
North America is still a relatively new online sports betting market, but it has already experienced exponential growth in a short space of time. Is there room for more growth in this sector, and what will be the main drivers?
“Absolutely, there is significant potential for continued growth in the North American sports betting market. As more states move towards legalization, we can expect a steady increase over the next three, five, and even 10-years. Each new state entering the market injects fresh interest and engagement. Beyond the lengthy legalisation process, innovation is a key driver. Solutions like DFS Pick ‘Em and Sweepstakes play a substantial role in sustaining market growth. The sector is still young and dynamic, with a lot propelling it forward.”
North American sports fans are notorious for their infatuation with player and game-related statistics, enhancing their viewing experience. How can operators best leverage the data supplied by solutions providers such as OpticOdds to create engaging content that will help to maximise the customer experience?
“Leveraging sports statistics data is becoming crucial for creating a compelling customer experience against your competitors. At OpticOdds, we provide comprehensive pre-match and in-play odds, real-time sports data, and player statistics. This data is essential for differentiating bookmakers. By integrating our data, operators can enhance their trading solutions and enrich the betting experience, ensuring that customers keep returning.”
Recent market reports have shown that betting types such as Same Game Parlays (SGPs) now account for half of all U.S. bets. What do you think this means for the future of U.S. betting trends, and how can operators best position themselves to leverage this opportunity for growth?
“This is a huge indicator of how the U.S. betting market is evolving. Unlike the U.K., where betting has long been part of the culture, the U.S. market is still maturing. It’s no secret that SGPs resonate strongly with bettors, offering a blend of virality and excitement.
“For operators, this represents a tremendous growth opportunity. Look at those hold rates!
“I would focus on enhancing your parlay offerings: Invest in top SGP pricing technology, broaden your market coverage, and make the UX as seamless as possible. If you aren’t investing in superior parlay/SGP performance, you will get left behind.”
Every year, new jurisdictions regulate sports betting across the U.S. What states are you most excited about, and which do you think will be next to regulate?
“California and Texas are the big fish that are still not live, given that they are the two most populous states in the country. I’ve heard that Texas might go live in 2028. But in the short term, I would require a crystal ball. However, the odds currently favour Missouri at +250 to be the next state to regulate.”
